Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can we request an appointment on line?
A. Yes. There is an appointment request page on our website which will send a message to our reservation center. They will contact you via phone or e-mail to set up your non-urgent appointment. No more waiting on hold!
Q. Can I send my doctor an e-mail?
A. No. We are working to enhance the security of our e-mail system. Your privacy is important to us. When we are satisfied that your privacy is protected, patients may be allowed to communicate with their physicians via e-mail.
Q. Can I view my medical records on line?
A. No. The confidentiality of your medical records is important. We are reviewing systems which, in the future, may allow review of certain items in your record, ie, test results, prescriptions, date of last checkup, etc.
Q. What is EMR?
A. EMR stands for Electronic Medical Records. Family Physicians Group uses an electronic medical record. This allows our doctors to quickly review your chart when you call with a question or come it for your appointment. Next time you come in for an appointment, ask your doctor about our EMR.
Q. How can I get my prescription refilled?
A. Call your pharmacy for refills. This is a service they provide for you. Have your bottle or box on hand. If you don’t have this be sure you know the name of the medication and, if possible, the dose and directions. Most pharmacies will have your refill available in less than a day.
When refills have run out, or if your prescription does not specify refills, your pharmacy will call your provider’s office. Your chart will be reviewed and the provider will decide what best meets your health care needs. This will take extra time, so call ahead at least two days before you run out of medicine.
For faster service, call your pharmacist early in the day. Refills on weekends, holidays or after 4 PM can take longer.
Q. Will Family Physicians Group bill my insurance?
A. Yes. Family Physicians Group bills most insurance as a courtesy to our patients. We do expect co-pays to be paid at the time of visit.
Q. Do you take credit cards?
A. For your convenience, we accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards.
Q. Do your doctors do obstetrics?
A. Yes. Eight of our family practice doctors have been trained in obstetrics.
